inward/outward has emerged from the unique setting and issues faced by the Church of the Savoiur in Washington, DC.

Now over 60 years old, the Church of the Saviour is known around the world for its unique approach to 'church', with its heavy emphasis on social justice, personal transformation, and transformative community. Every year people from other churches around the US (and the world) come to visit this church (or, rather, collection of churches) and see what they're about. Further, the church has built quite a network of friends and associates around the world, many of whom feel that their true home is in DC. Yet until now there has been no online 'hub' where these people could congregate and communicate with one another.

In response to this need and the shutting down of the Daily Dig, a 150,000-subscriber daily inspirational email service, I have worked with Kayla McClurg and others at the Church of the Saviour to create a service that combines a daily message with an online network that can grow and change over time. The site is still in its infancy, but already we are sending daily email messages to several hundred subscribers, and the feedback so far has been wonderful.

As we move forward, inward/outward will increase in its capacity to connect people who share the Church of the Saviour's vision, with tools for finding one another and encouragement to continue the conversations in person.
